Clear Anodized aluminum Door Skins etc.

February 16, 2009 · Posted in Uncategorized

I recently was reminded that I needed to add a little material to the blog.  Sorrry folks I think I have just been lazy. We have a ton of stuff coming up and I promise I’ll put it up ASAP.

In the mean time here is a door I put together for a big clear anodized aluminum project I did here in town. This door is 7′H by 6′ W. Its hinged on a third and weighs in at about 600 lbs.

I simply love this door.  I used 78- 4′x10′ sheets of aluminum on all of  the Soffit and Facia  and ceilings as well as most of the exterior walls in this house.

Its awesome.

Interior wall and ceiling, which you cant see very well, but its there I swear it.

This really was a giant pain in the butt, which took a full year.  However it was  a great opprotunity. Not very many people are brave enough to clad their house in metal.  Word of warning, the neighbors wanted to kill me, though I think they have settled down now.

What a house ! This is the part where I should say something in french that generally refers to food while making a slightly femmy gesture with my hands………but I dont know french. Instead please enjoy the view of the back of my head.

Beautiful work Laine. Your rant was entertaining as well. In case anyone every wondered I can vouch that Laine really is a man without guile.

Liam. Make sure to use a metal no lighter than .063 or it tends to look cheap. Again this is Clear anodized Aluminum, I have seen someone use a mill finish aluminum but it looks awful. Check out the house on 600 s and 750 e ish. Cool house terrible mistake. Love to see your idea.
