New door designs

November 14, 2008 · Posted in Uncategorized

In the absence of good affordable design in the local market, we here at Modfab decided to do our own. While I realize that there are only a few members here.  Im going to pretend as though there were many.  As some of you know I recently began running a new series of doors, both interior and exterior. The first one as you see below is a solid core oak slab with glass and black lacquer finish, a white one is to follow next week.

We are going to keep churning the new designs out until my brain leaks out my nose or they catch on, preferably the latter. My hope is that people will see these doors and other things like them and begin the conversation about the need for good design, perhaps people will be inspired to design their own doors, cabinets, chairs, tables, baths, and of course fruit baskets. Ok so it sounds a little corny but hey maybe it will work.

Being that this is my first blog I may have messed up a thing or to but as time goes bye we will work out the kinks.

HOORAY MODERN !

Lookin’ good. I could totally use some 24″x68″ exterior doors in this vein of style. I’m willing to put in the labor too…

I would love some more info. Do you custom make the doors or do you have a standard size? My wife and I love the design.

    Todd.
We have about nine door designs so far, ranging from slabs to style and rail type. We will be adding them as they come off the line. I’m happy to hear you like the design, I’ll be adding a bunch of other stuff to the blog soon. We fabricate far to many things to list, but to give you an idea we are a full metal and full wood shop. You’ll eventually see: showers, sinks, chairs, tables, lighting and any other thing that keeps me awake at night. If you have a particular need let me know, if nothing else we are a great resource. We really have no trick pony so we will make just about anything unless its traditional, gotta draw a line somewhere.

Thank you for taking the time.

Wow! The doors give me goose bumps – they are so different and exciting. I’m looking for a 36″X80″ prehung front door. Where can I buy? Anyplace in So. California? – I hope – I hope….
Wishing you many sleepless nights and more beautiful creations.

I’ll be calling soon to talk about your doors. They are beautiful. Hoping you think one might work on a 1961 ranch house in Silicon Valley… :)

    Hi Laine.
Are you the guy who made the prototype mahogany door in the GrassRootsModern peoples’ house? If so, I am interested in getting one made.
